Only 21 days to the election . . .
Last week, Tom was a featured guest on The Interview Show with Mark Bazer. This is a talk show held the first Friday of each month at the Hideout, a bar in Wicker Park. It’s videotaped, and the videos are put up on the internet.
Though the audience had talked through the segments that featured other guests, Tom commanded their attention from start to finish. They were so silent you could hear a pin drop — except to laugh and applaud at some of Tom’s best lines.
In the interview, Tom warns that we are facing the loss of our middle class way of life. But, he adds, although in some ways things have never been worse, they also have never been more hopeful, because public policy is up for grabs in a way it hasn’t been before in our lifetime.
Tom’s message of economic security for working people is remarkably compelling. The audience was so warmly responsive because they, like so many Americans, are eager for the kind of straight talk and real solutions Tom provides.
Here’s the video, which runs a little over 22 minutes.

I loved Harold Meyerson’s OpEd in today’s Washington Post OpEd (February 25, 2009).
I don’t live in Chicago, but our politically active son does! I’ve told him to get onboard with Geoghegan!
Go, Geoghegan!!!

And as he points out in the linked video, we always come up with the money for war…. [...]
